We chose to install solar generation capability for a couple of reasons. Our home has ample roof surface with great exposure and we get the dual benefit of lowering our draw of energy from the grid and helping to offset the need for additional fossil fuel generation plants by contributing our excess capacity during the day. The solar generation system we installed has performed beyond our initial expectations. Through prudent use of air conditioning (controlled through home automation) and use of LED lighting, low flow pool pump we have been able to maintain a credit balance with our Retail Energy Provider since installation. Our 2017 electrical bill totaled one dollar for the entire year.
